After posting a general question, someone messaged claiming to be community support and asked me to continue in private chat. I ignored them. Confirming that real support does not work that way?

Correct. Moderators do not cold-DM asking for remote access, payments, or private case details. Use Report on anything that claims otherwise.
Same pattern on other platforms after scam posts. Silence and report.
